Sarawak Convention Bureau Sponsors the Autism Cause
31st January 2017, Kuching: To encourage conference owners to back good causes in Sarawak, the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) kicks off its first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of the year by sponsoring RM10,500 towards the “Kuching Run for Autism 2017” organised by the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA).
“CSR initiatives such as these provide the ideal platform in driving engagement across all levels, especially in the Business Events sector, as the convention community has the power to make significant changes to the local community through these initiatives,” explained Amelia Roziman, General Manager of Marketing and Sales of SCB.
KAA, SCB and the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) have been collaborating to develop more widespread awareness of autism in Sarawak, to boost resources and support.
The Organising Chairperson of the run, Cynthia Jee, explaining the objective of this year’s autism run, said “In 2016, we were able to generate public awareness on the autism spectrum disorder awareness. For the 2nd edition of the Autism Run, we are striving to create acceptance of both autistic children and adults among their peers, family and the community at large.”
The 3km and 7km non-competitive run will take place on 2nd April 2017 in conjunction with World Autism Day.
