HEADHUNTER LONGHOUSE THEME PARTY

Show delegates a good time at a true blue Iban party in a longhouse. Delegates are ushered up the longhouse steps amidst traditional welcoming music and into the arms of dancing maidens in traditional silver headdresses, brass bangles and pua sarongs. The guests are offered tuak, traditional rice wine. A special blessing ceremony, the miring, is performed by the headman to usher good tidings to all. Then, dinner is served en masse at the ruai and the adventurers get to dig in with everyone. After dinner, guests get to join in the traditional ngajat dance as the party continues.

THE WHITE RAJAH THEME PARTY

Sarawak’s colourful colonial past is anchored on the story of the ‘White Rajahs’, the lineage of British adventurers who came to rule Sarawak and were loved by all from 1841 to 1946. Re-live that past with a colonial-style White Rajah Team Party on the banks of the Sarawak River. Experience classic British dinner parties at one of Kuching’s Brooke-period buildings, accompanied by an old-style brass band and performances from that era. Socialise and dance the night away under the boughs of lush trees on a perfectly manicured lawn.

THEME PARTY

Never mind the strange language. This is as authentically ethnic Sarawak as one can get. Break out and explore true Borneo. Take a short flight from Miri to Mulu National Park. Besides being known for its wondrous cave chambers and wildlife, Mulu is the original home of the Berawan people. Take a walk on the wild side and enjoy traditional umai, a type of salad;sambal, the traditional salad dressing and  of course, tuak or rice wine. Let delegates immerse themselves the Orang Ulu’s magical story-tellers. After dinner, before the evening ends, delegates will be escorted through the rainforest back to the hotel by Berawan warriors to the tune of the Orang Ulu song, “Leng Leng”.

MALAY KAMPUNG THEME PARTY

A stay in Malaysian Borneo is seldom complete without a taste of traditional Malay culture. In the Malay Kampung Theme Party, delegates will experience the true hospitality of the Malay community. Be welcomed into the traditional Malay home with a traditional foot-washing ceremony before entering the threshold. On the floor of the dining area, a full spread of traditional Malay fare awaits the hungry delegate. Eat to your heart’s content, but not with eating utensils. Half the fun is in eating with your hands, Malay style.  Spend an evening in the life of a traditional Malay kampong and chillax.

INDIAN CULTURE

It’s not all about headhunters and war expeditions. Delegates have the opportunity to experience one of the oldest cultures in the world by way of Kuching’s Indian community. The Indian community in Sarawak may be small but is interwoven into the history of Sarawak. Hundreds of years ago, Indian seafarers were known to stop by this part of Sarawak via Santubong, using it is as a port of call through the Spice Islands. Intricate Indian temples dot cities throughout Sarawak, often tucked in discreet corners unknown to the uninitiated. Be honoured guests at an Indian temple and revel in the colourful culture of Sarawak’s Indian community. Be privy to a heartfelt welcome and join in the traditional Indian dances before digging in to a sumptuous Indian meal, traditional style. Get the camera ready for the beautiful and painstakingly created rice art as part of the ceremony.

OFFSHORE THEME PARTY

Discover adventures in the high seas and life in the oil rigs with a twist. The Central Region is home to Sarawak’s black gold. Oil rigs dot the South China Sea off Sarawak’s shores. The oil rig discovery party brings the life of an oil rigger to you on dry land. In the oil rig dinner, it is as if the delegate has been transported out to an oil rig in the middle of the ocean. Waiters dorm full oil-rigger garb and dinner is ‘off-shore’ style – in aluminium foil and all manner of utensils rigged up to the theme. The oil rig discovery party can happen anywhere you choose. We bring the oil rig right to your doorstep.

COCKTAILS IN THE CAVES

What’s it like to be in the world’s largest cave chamber? Better still, what’s it like to have a cocktail in a cave? When it comes to giant caves, Mulu National Park has it all. Take a gander at the rock profile of Abraham Lincoln at Deer Cave, follow an underground river through Clearwater Cave, whose crystal clear waters mask the depths of the river running through it. Take in the amazing formations of King’s Chamber. Fly south to Kuching and sit in with fairies in Fairy Cave, natural formations in the shapes of Chinese deities. Or listen to the song of the wind in Wind Cave. Have a cocktail at the caves, on us. We’ll bring the band along. The traditional band, of course. Nothing beats the marriage of the haunting sape with an outing to Sarawak’s caves.

ON THE PROWL IN CAT CITY

Kuching panders itself to all things feline and rightly so, for ‘Kuching’ means ‘cat’ in the Malay language. Cat statues and statuettes adorn city landmarks in a tasteful fashion. Celebrate the felinity of Kuching and have a theme event in the name of cats. Throw a cat theme party at the grounds of the museum and have guests dress up in cat masks, feline tails and all manner of ‘cattiness’. There is no better place in the world to celebrate the hit musical ‘Cats’ with ‘catty’ fashion shows, ‘Cats’ theme events and human felines slinking around in sassy costumes.

OSCAR NIGHT

So far, delegates have ventured into the Bornean jungle. They’ve climbed up mist-covered mountains and swung with the monkeys. They’ve done it all. It is time for fame and glamour. Delegates can now step out of the limo onto the red carpet and be greeted by the adoring screams of loyal fans. They are the Stars, bigger than Pitt, sexier than Clooney and Jolie put together. Strut along the red carpet and be photographed by clamouring paparazzi. They get to be interviewed by Entertainment Borneo and all the newshounds in town. This is Hollywood in Borneo. Head for the glam dinner and the Oscar Party afterwards. It’s star treatment all the way.

THE ORIGINAL CARWASH PARTY

Fancy a dinner and a fun party in the most original place you can think of? Have your group picked up at the hotel in a mucky van that looks like it’s just driven through mud and guano. It’s definitely seen cleaner days. Twenty minutes later, everyone arrives at The Original Carwash, where cool people hang out and equally cool cars get hosed down. Mosey along into the uber cool interior of the establishment and be treated to a fusion dinner of international standards in the theme of all things carwash.  Eat with utensils in the shapes of brushes, car sponges and everything else you use for washing your wheels. Well, maybe not meet them in person but we can introduce your delegate group to a few world-class prodigies who can play like the old legends. Welcome to the Miri International Jazz Festival, where your VIP status will get you into the VIP tent and the opportunity to mingle with some of the top jazz musicians in the world. Held only in Miri once every year, delegates will arrive in style and be ushered into the VIP tent with a prime view of the gig line-up. Romance in the tropics on a love boat floating down the Sarawak River as the day ends and the evening begins– what could be more perfect for a little post-conference R & R? The Love Boat theme party has angels and cupids waiting on delegates with love potions and love treats. Play quirky games like “The Best Pick-Up Line”, “Love At First Sight”, “The Act of Love” and more as you meander towards a candle-lit dusk. On deck, a BBQ dinner awaits love birds and the love tunes from the live band starts.

Enchant your delegates by taking them on a magical adventure through the Borneo rainforest where tall tree men roam freely, peacocks dance by the stream and strange dream-like magical creatures spring up to life. Journey in the land where headhunters once reigned, and experience the culture, fantasy and magic of Borneo. The journey begins as guests are led by the ‘Magic Mirror’ into the event hall that has been transformed into a magical rainforest where they will savour a specially-themed menu of local delicacies such as ‘midin’ (jungle fern) and ‘manok pansuh’ (traditional chicken stew) prepared by a local chef, and drink the elixir of life from an enchanted goblet. To relive the magic all night long, live music and performances from local entertainers will get your feet tapping and onto the dance floor in no time!

The Mamma Mia Theme Party will transport you to the azures of the Skopelos Islands in Greece where the ship is transformed into a Villa setting with a colourful spread of canapés and cocktails. As the ship sets sail into the sunset, savour a feast of Mediterranean food and a fiery array of BBQ meats. NIGHT OF THE PHARAOH’S : VICTORY FEAST

Walk like an Egyptian in Borneo by recreating a night of the Pharaoh’s with a victory feast to celebrate your delegates. Recreate the pomp and splendour when the Pharaoh’s once ruled with a spectacular display of fire-eaters, Egyptian kings and queens, pyramids or even mummies! The night begins with a grand procession of the Pharaoh’s who welcome you to join in the feast of Kings and be entertained by enchanting belly dancers and magicians. Have your future predicted by the mysterious tarot card readers roving around or simply soak in the ambience and play dress up at the Egyptian-themed photo booth with a mummy or two in the background.

THE SURVIVOR –
SARAWAK STYLE

Come join the tribe in this Survivor themed dinner by the beach. Guests are welcomed with garlands by torch-bearers dressed in native costumes. To ensure guests are dressed according to theme, organisers will be provided with sarongs and native headgear suitable to survive the night. The evening kicks off with a procession to the bonfire where the tribal chief will conduct a welcoming ceremony before the BBQ feast begins. After dinner, let the games begin! Traditional games are played to foster camaraderie amongst guests while local entertainers provide an ambient atmosphere of traditional music and dance.
